Reitbrock Geographical Marker at Poniatowski Athens Reviews
Unique thing to see! Sep 13, 2013
While working in Wausau recently, I searched for things to see during my off time.
One of the things I found was this, so I had to go see it!
The drive out is boring with lots of flat land and farms.
Once off the main highway it can be difficult to find and I even had to take detour due to a closed road.
Then......there it was! I found it! I actually drove right past it and had to turn around.
This little square spot in a corn field marks the center of the Western half of the Northern Hemisphere.
It is halfway between the Equator and the North Pole and is halfway between Greenwich Meridian and the International Date Line. Yes, right there in Wisconsin.
I parked and checked out the view. I took a few photos and then left.
Nothing much to see there, except for the marker itself, but a neat thing to see if you are in the area.
Once you have visited, you can go into Wausau to the visitors center and get a coin that shows you visited but I did not do that.
