Nangadef? I was in Senegal for a week and in the Gambia for three weeks studying West African culture. I actually kept a journal this time, but I'm too lazy to type it up here so just enjoy the pictures!

From Kaolack we went to Popeingue. The last part to the hotel we couldn't drive with the bus. The street had big wholes because of the rainy season. In the darkness we had to wait for the 4x4 car. Our driver and guides were hungry because they weren't allowed to eat befor sunset (it was Ramadan). So we offered them some food. The car could just take a few people at once and it had to drive very slowly. The drive was very uncomfortable because of the wholes but finally we reached the hotel. So…

Teranga is the name for senegalese hospitality, a truly unique way of welcoming anyone. Imagine a country where hospitality has it's own special word! Senegal was amazing.

The perpetual sand and wind combination in the village is not a pretty one. Within 15 minutes of being outdoors, I rub my arm with my hand and it feels like a day at the spa with a nice exfoilant. An exfoliant of sand and dirt. Great for my pores. The morning comes, I emerge from my bedroom and am directed to my parents bedroom where I am served breakfast - a nice baguette filled with some sort of meat and hot coffee.
