i went there in sep 2006, the first pic shows Grand Place where is said most beautiful place in the world.also, here's very cosmopolitan city.

Brussels is where I have landed for work, where I still live today. For me it is a bureaucratic, grey city, famous for being an urbanistic disaster. It is a city without form, without shape, full of strange encounters. But it is also a nice and surreal city. It is messy, grumpy but welcoming in its own way.  

As I work with a relief and development organization I travel to donor meetings and workshops in Bruxelles about 3-4 times a year. There are not always time to see the city, but there are so many things to see. It is a very interesting city with a lot to offer.

This day we decided to go on a bus trip to Belgium, deciding this would be the easiest and quickest way as we didn't really know much about Belgium but really wanted to go. The bus journeys were fun. The tour guide, Dederick, was very funny. Antwerp was a really nice, quaint city, very elegant. Brussels was bursting with life and the smell of Belgian chocolate was everywhere. Evening came as I arrived back in Brussels.  I got my Panos sandwich and walked out to the European Union headquarters just to see the building.  For whatever reason, my stomach started really hurting and it was very difficult to do anything.  I made it to the headquarters, but it was hard to enjoy it!  I had to head back into town, and sure enough the one time I needed to find a restroom I just couldn't find one.  Finally, I ducked into a ritzy hotel in town (with my…

After getting ready we went to a little french fry stand and had some delicious fries. Then we walked up to the Grand Place and looked around. Amsterdam to Brussles and BACK!

We got up pretty early because we wanted to get out of that shitty hostel. We went to breakfast and then we went back to Trafalgar square. It was pretty early so there wasn't any tourists so we got a whole bunch of pictures climbing up on the lions and stuff without any other tourists in them and it was really sunny so it was pretty nice. So my point of entry was Amsterdam, and from there directly to Mieke's in Belgium. The one night in Japan was awesome, and the lack of sleep on the flight great. Finally i arrived.

Here's where we a-go.

I arrived in Brussels and immediately afraid of the city.  There were no sign of English anywhere and my French is pretty rusty.  I stared at the metro map for a long time trying to figure heads or tails of it.  I start off all conversations with "Parlez-vous anglais?" and the response, so far, has been very dim.  At that point, the people weren't so nice and we stood there and prayed that these people weren't going to be rude and ridiculous like the French. …
