Belgium is a country where you can find great food. I find it more delicious than the French cousine honestly. It has very nice cities worth visiting such as Antwerp, Brugge, Gent and of course Brussels. Brussels (centre of Europe when it comes to international bodies such as EU, UN, NATO etc.), Antwerp (European center of diamond) and Gent are more modern and large cities compared to Brugge. Brugge is a small town with small old houses and cosy atmosphere. We enjoyed it a lot.

To all who read this,
I will no longer be updating my travbuddy.com site since it takes too much work while on the road to maintain two sites. Instead I am spending my effort keeping WhereisCliff.com up to date. So, please go there and read my blogs and check out my pics if you're interested! Sign up to leave comments too!
Hope to see you there,
Cliff

Gotta love the Eurostar. It's such a smooth, fast and very comfortable train ride across the English Channel, plus there's none of the security headaches you get at the airport. It took just over 2 hours to arrive at Brussuls Midi/Zuid, and then it was a short metro ride into the city centre, then a fair walk from that station to the main train station. The walk was fine, but smell of urine in some of those walkways wasn't. We found out later we could have taken a more…

Not a very original topic, but I've been noticing a recurring theme in many of my blogs and photos where Beer is playing a prominent part, so I will try to show some of the many brews I have tried throughout my travels, and when I can, will try to give reviews of them as well...

since our flight to london got cancelled we spent an extra night in amsterdam. cheryl and ben rescheduled their flight to london for the next day - and i am in the process of trying to get a refund on mine. it didnt make any sense to go to london for three days, then pay to get back off the UK only to pay once again to get back on the UK at the end of my trip. so instead i elected to start my solo journey a bit early and head to belgium with darcy and ben from baltimore
i was supposed t…

After a most uncomforable train ride on the Belgian TGV as a result of it being far too hot, I ended up in Brussels, Gare du Midi or Zuidstation as the Flemish people like to say. I was staying with Sven, off couchsurfing - who turned out to most imformative about the country, with herewith I was rather ashamedly ignornant.

We only had time for lunch while we were in Brussels. I recall seeing several Greek restaurants in the downtown area so we decided to stop in and have some delicious Gyros. I would have liked to have time to visit the European Union headquarters, but we ran out of time.

Okay, so I didn't exactly visit Brussels, but the bus did stop there on the way to Berlin, and I just wanted it to show that on my travel map!

Ben picked me up straight off the plane with the vehicle already packed. We headed to Folkestone to take the Chunnel. We made really good time and ended up taking an earlier train. Whilst in queue for the train, we saw a horse drawn in the hillside nearby (pictured above). The train ride was quick and uneventful, although it was interesting driving through the inside of a train. We didn’t pause in Calais but headed straight for Bruxelles (aka Brussels). After checking into the hotel we …
