Regent Continental Hotel New Delhi

Certainly not the best hotel we've been in during our 25 day trip through India. If a hotel's the only one in town I normally don't mind that much when it's slightly dodgy, but certainly there must be a better spot in Delhi ?!

I've been in three different rooms in this hotel and none of them look anything like the pictures they use to promote the hotel. Two out of three rooms were very cramped and being in there with 2 people would make it annoyingly crowded. The rooms have fridges and complementary mineral water but often the fridges work a bit too well, turning the water in ice and bursting the plastic bottles, making them useless. In one room the air-conditioning broke down and the '3 minutes to fix it' turned into half an hour. When the air-conditioning works it is so noisy that it's difficult to sleep. Some of the lighting switched were actually hanging out of the wall.

Our travel agency actually advised us to have breakfast in a different hotel! We had breakfast here once and it turned out to be possible to ordere 'a la carte' but this would take at least 30 minutes to prepare, even if you only ordered an egg and toast. Also, what was available and what the costs were differed depending on which waiter you asked.

The hotel advertises 'Internet in every room' but the WIFI network does not reach all rooms.

The hotel is in desperate need of maintance in certain places. Good thing is that this was well on its way when we stayed here, so let's hope this improves this place drastically.

All in all not 'hell on earth' but not recommended either.
