Refuge du Col de la Croix du Bonhomme Reviews
Wow! Sep 09, 2009
This place was amazing! I had planned on hiking further down into Les Chapieux or Ville de Glaciers, but I was just too tired so I stayed here. I am glad I did! The staff was super friendly! Many have worked there over twenty years. They will call ahead to Elisibetta if you are going in that direction. I got here too early to check in, so I just took a nap on the Col and ate lunch up there. The view from here was amazing! While I was here, they were preparing for the helicopter to come in the next day and pick up the empty gas canisters and resupply it I suppose.
The refuge had a very large dinning area with books, old photos, and maps. Dinner was good, very filling, and warm. The beer was very nice to have! There are multiple different rooms in the refuge, and I stayed in the Denali room. It had probably 20 beds in it. It was thankfully only half full. I got there early after my nap, so I had a good choice!
Definitely worth staying at if you just happen to be in the area.
