I drove through the Umpqua National Forest on the way to the coast.  It is gorgeous!  Lots of green trees and hills everywhere.  I stopped at a little roadside pullout and was greeted with the most beautiful view of the Umpqua River.  I chatted with a local that likes to eat his lunch there.  I think he was pleased that I discovered his spot, but maybe slightly disappointed when he learned I was just passing through and couldn't eat lunch there every day.  I pa…

Yesterday (day16) we had to swap the rented car at the international airport in Seattle. After that we took our new Pontiac (a real dark “bandit car” ;-) and followed the coast line down to Rockaway Beach. Today (day17) we further followed the coastline on HWY101 down to a small village called Reedsport.
