Bush meat with a modern twist Dec 16, 2012
Red Ochre is a mid-price restaurant off Todd Mall in the very center of Alice Springs. It has a nice modern interior with airco, but there's also a cozy shaded patio where you can sit outside. There is however no table service outside, so you need to go and order indoors.

The place specializes in bush meet. For dinner there's a platter with kangaroo, emu, crocodile, camel etc... It's possible to have it as tapas too during lunch. We opted for the kangaroo steak sandwich, which was really to die for! We got a nice plate with the steak medium rare, with caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato and dressing on toasted bread and a generous serving of fries on the side. The meat was really nice and succulent and absolutely delicious. If the lunch menu is already so good, I'm pretty sure it's worth going for dinner as well.

Moreover the service was really good. First the waitress came out to inform there's no table service outside, but she did take and bring our order for drinks. I then went to order our food inside, but also that was brought to the table. Only the payment then needed to be done indoors.

This is definitely one of the better lunches we had in Australia, so this surely is recommendable!
