I loved the location as it is close to the old part of the city where all the lovely bohemian pubs are. Of course, there are buildings of significance to see near Barrio Del Carmen( that's the name of the pub area) but as I went there in July and again in September, most of the evenings were spent on terraces enjoying the newly discovered Aqua de Valencia( don't be fooled by the name as there's more than water in this nice looking potion), tuna salads, patatas brava or various tapas and the sounds of people, talking or just moving around.
The pace at which life unravels here is very different from what I'm used to and I gave in to it and just took my time enjoying everything.
There are a lot of bus stations really near and you can quickly catch a number of buses to the modern part of the city with the futuristic architecture or to the beach.
The hostel is colorful, 70s-80s pictures in the large recreation room, that has tall windows giving onto the lovely Calle la Paz.
Bathrooms are always clean as is the entire place. I could always see a cleaning lady around the kitchen(well equipped with things you may need, should you find yourself in the mood for cooking even something more complicated than sandwiches).
The staff speaks more languages than I understood and where always willing to give you directions about places of general or less general interest.
All in all what you see when you first lay eyes on the place is what you get.
The hostel has a twin, so to speak, just around the corner named Purple Nest, with similar qualities.
