Red Lotus THAI & VIETNAMESE CUISINE Twentynine Palms Reviews
stay away!!! Feb 16, 2014
We wanted to eat some Asian food so we thought Red Lotus might be a good choice. This must be a good restaurant that’s why it is full so we thought. We went in and we were told by one of the staff who at that time was assisting other costumers to occupy the only vacant table. Not too long, a pretty looking lady came to get our orders. My husband ordered for a “pad thai” and the three of us (my children and I) ordered for the “grilled pork” which also is served with steamed jasmine rice and some slices of cucumbers & tomatoes. We did not order for soda but we asked for glasses of water with lemon in it but said they didn’t have lemon. Later on I saw another costumer who was served of water with lime! Hello, she could have told “we don’t have lemon but we have lime, will that be good?”…
The dining room was too dark for my liking and there are not many spaces in between the dining tables. While in the kitchen is a commotion of grilling activities, the smoke flew into the dining room so a thick cloud of smoke overwhelmed the ceiling. You can look at one of the photos I took to see what I meant. So we waited…and waited…and waited again! Twenty five minutes passed and our food is still not served! What’s taking them so long? It is just a pad thai and grilled pork! Oh maybe, the Butcher might still be working on the pig! We asked the waitress about our orders and just answered us, “it’s coming along”. We are starting to get frustrated but hey it is not just us…even the other patrons in the next table got pissed and left the place instead!
Finally, our food was served. When I tried the grilled meat it tasted like “tocino” (Philippine style cured meat) and did not taste like a fresh grilled meat at all. My husband’s pad thai was bland so he had to add some seasonings to make it taste better. Well, because the wait was too long we’ve lost our appetite so we did not finish our meal but we do not want to waste food so we asked for boxes so we could bring it to the hotel.
I wouldn’t recommend this place even if it’s the only restaurant open in the area!
FOOD COST: Pad Thai: $9.95 and Grilled Pork: $7.95 (x3) = $23.85 TOTAL: $36.10 for a disgusting dining experience. Don't waste your money ;-)
