Great place to make a pitstop Nov 06, 2009
The Red Light District in downtown Amsterdam is a great place to make a pit stop. The train from the Airport and other places in Holland stops right downtown. The Red Light District is divided into 3 main areas.
Even walking around at 11 in the morning, you can spot hookers in the windows trying to lure visitors. I imagine there's a bunch more in the evening and in the late morning hours. It's hilarious to me, an American, that women are dressed in lingerie, standing, sitting, and posing in windows just anyone to see. There are sex museums and other shops of interest stirred all around. While your there, grab some Chinese or Thai food-they are all over the place. Of course, there are shops and bars selling weed (which is legal over there). You can't take pictures in the Red Light District, but it is an entertaining visit. |

MY FIRST TIME IN AMSTERDAM
“Have you ever been with a prostitute?”
Well, this wasn’t the kind of question I’d been expecting, ya know?
This is a case where you’re gonna have to tell me.
I got off the night train from Copenhagen to Amst…red light district. She would lecture everyone about the canals and the great art museum and so on. Most didn’t listen.
I suddenly smiled. I didn’t want to do much on my first day, there being so little left of it anyway, so I figured… My First Time in Amsterdam |

We're tired and perhaps a bit crabby. Leaving Rome, a city my roommate/friend Leah and I had gotten quite used to living, was bittersweet. We missed our families, but had slowly become absorbed in the Roman culture.Luckily, we had a layover in Amste…Red Light District, but for some reason we were completely naive... at least I was. I can't really speak for the others. We simply wanted to be where the other people were because we wanted to see what all the hype, fuss and attracted… The Red Light District |

“Hello gentlemen,” said the man standing beside a doorway with lurid pictures of naked couples behind him. We turned around to face him but did not stop. We knew what he was going to say. He spoke louder this time. “Come on. I know you haven…Red Light District. Phil, a friend from university twenty years previously had booked it. The crowds were immense. Not surprisingly, the biggest group were young men, either wandering around in pairs, or else as part of stag parties. All looked happy to be there, leery… Amsterdam, Netherlands - Warning: Contains Adult Themes! |

After a very speedy taxi ride from the airport to our hostel (the guy was doing 140km/h at some stages), so began our four day weekend in Amsterdam. Our hostel was amazing. It had just been converted from a school, and was very modern and clean, wit…red light district. We got some deliciously seedy Turkish food, and then walked around the area. The red light district is so named because of the distinct red light that accompanies the prostitutes that stand in the windows, tempting passers-by. In July, these ‘windows… Amsterdamned! |

We arrived early in the morning and checked into our hostel and started the tourism right away. We were confused at first because we didn't realize there was an hour time difference. We started with the Anne Frank House. The space …red light district. I couldn't get the song Roxanne... Put on the Red Light, out of my head for days hehe. We walked around a bit and it was neat to see these girls all dressed up but I almost felt bad for them… Amsterdam- Day 1 |
