Traditional Bedouin Food Feb 26, 2009
This restaurant is one among several *touristy* restaurants located along the main Petra Street in front of Petra entrance.
We just flip a coin and select this restaurant randomly. It turns out that the food we had at the first dinner was great.
We had Mansaf (Jordanian national dish). The original version should be eaten communal style with hands, but this time they serve us for personal portion. Mansaf is a lamb chop cooked with dried yoghurt (called jameed) till it became soft, served in sticky rice accompanied with dried yoghurt soup.
Some chicken wing bbq (I have to admit it's not worth it ordering this kind of food here.. but sometimes we just couldn't help it:D).

The second dinner we had 2 original bedouin dishes.
One is Maglouba: This versatile dish is a simple meat, fish or vegetable stew usually served with rice. My order was lamb with tomato based stew.
Chrys's order was Bedouina Galaya, cooked lamb in gravy sesame sauce.
The second dinner wasn't as great as the first one but it's interesting to try different kind of the local food.

This restaurant has several seats outdoor in front of the building, located at the pavement, therefore it was enjoyable to sit down with teh sun and watching the tourists passing by.

So we deiced to sit in one restaurant, as the other restaurants this one, Red Cave has open air seating on the pavement area, makes it very nice to sit there under the warm late afternoon sun because the wind started to be stronger and chillier. We have known what to order, which was Mansaf, Jordanian traditional dish, although… Day-4: Reaching Wadi Musa – guess what – no ATM!
