Rüdesheim: cable car to Niederwald monument - Rudesheim am Rhein - TravBuddy

At €6.50 per person for a round trip to the Niederwald monument from Rüdesheim the ride is comparatively cheap. You jump in - supervised by staff - and take the ride of about 5 minutes to the top of the hillside. Sometimes you have to wait for a bit but the ride itself is definitely worth it because it offers beautiful views over the river Rhine and the vineyards surrounding Rüdesheim. But of course the main attraction is the Niederwald monument, a huge statue of Germania that is overlooking the Rhine. This is also a nice scenic viewpoint.

Things to do once you're on the hill:
From here there are several small hiking paths that lead to neighbouring towns and take you through the nice scenic landscape. There is also a restaurant up there, but we gave it a miss because it looked very touristy and imposed its uglyness on an otherwise very pretty landscape.
