Razon's in the City Apr 12, 2009
The original Razon's is in Pampanga, one food capitals of the Philippines. Since not everyone can always go to Pampanga, a couple of franchises from this popular restaurant up north have popped up in Makati and Manila.

When you go to Razon's, immediately order the sisig. What is sisig? Well, it's the staple for every inuman (beer-drinking session). It's pork and some pig spare parts and accessories. Word of advice: never ask what ingredients are in sisig. Nonetheless, it's worth a try.

If you don't feel like sisig, feel free to order other dishes like Sizzling Bulalo and Boneless Bangus.

After the main course, you have GOT to try their Halo-halo. Halo-halo is normally a dessert made of crushed ice, sweet beans, pinipig, macapuno (sweet coconut strips), leche flan, and condensed milk. Razon's version of halo-halo is a little simpler: macapuno, leche flan, ice and condensed milk. Their shaved ice is really soft and it melts in your mouth upon contact.

As I mentioned, the original Razon's is in Pampanga. Even though the quality of the food does not compare with the original, the franchises still definitely stand out amongst the oversaturation of sizzling food joints in the city.

Razon's is exceptional because the ice they use in their halo-halo is so finely crushed. For me that's the secret of good halo-halo! They only use 3 ingredients in their halo-halo: macapuno, saba, and leche flan.

Pancit luglug is also another favorite. It's basically noodles with sauce and tiny shrimps, egg slices and chicharon bits. Yum! perfect for an afternoon snack.
