Rascafria Vacation Guide
Rascafría is a municipality located in the valley of Lozoya, in the northwestern part of the Comunidad of Madrid, Spain.
Rascafría and Oteruelo del Valle, located at the headwaters of Valle Alto del Lozoya, with about fifteen thousand hectares, constitute one of the largest municipalities of the Community of Madrid.
Since the 2,429 meters altitude of Peñalara peak, the highest summit of the Community, this unique landscape of high mountains down to the 1,125 meters in Oteruelo del Valle along the river Lozoya.
The town is bordered by two mountain ranges that make up the Valle of El Paular and join in the port of Los Cotos.
This point of the Sierra de Guadarrama is one of the most valuable of the Community of Madrid.
Here, visitors will find the beauty of the landscape of high mountain peaks, glaciers shaped, lagoons, and tall grasses give way to lush forests of pine and oak that in the deepest valley of meadows become ashes, as well as many streams of water, supplied by snow and rain, which flow into the river Lozoya.
