Rancho Tranquilo Tulum Reviews
A tropical paradise May 09, 2010
I stayed there for two days. The Rancho is located just about 100-200 meters from the ADO Bus station. Once you exit the bus station, take a right and along the street. Once you past the tire place (vulcanisador), you will see a surf board where the entrance to the hostel is.
The place is really beautiful. The proprietor, an american has build the place some 30 years ago with the help of the local mayans.
The whole place is one botanical garden. The owner has a flair for all kinds of plants and you can see mango trees, papaya trees and even banana trees. In the main house is the reception, a big kitchen and a take one leave one library with a wide selection. I stayed in a dorm room with 6 beds. However, I had the room to myself for the two nights I stayed there. The room was ok, and rather clean. The only thing that was a big strange was that in the toilet bowl where some living larvae of probably mosquitoes. But a good flush took care of that. Probably the room has not been used for quite some time. The place also has some double rooms with A/C and some small double bed cabanas.
I would recommend that hostel to anyone going to Tulum. The owner is really unique and the place looks great.
