Ramparts of Essaouira Reviews
Ancient Defences of Essaouira Dec 29, 2010
The ramparts of Essaouira are the fortified walls that protected the town from invaders by sea or land. They are massively tall and thick and remain in excellent condition.
The sea-front ramparts offer excellent, elevated views of the rocky shoreline and you'll certainly want to bring your camera along. The well-preserved cannons are still in place along the wall tops, and one can easily tell that this would have been a very difficult place for enemy forces to take by force.
There is no entrance fee and visitors can stroll along at their own pace; free of hassle or vendors. It's highly recommended to walk along the tops of the walls and just relax a while in the cool, seaside atmosphere, and dream of the times of high adventure from another age.
