Luxury hotel with great facilities Mar 29, 2011
I stayed in this hotel in 2010 for 10 days. We were part of a large group booking which the hotel staff handled very well and on arriving we were swiftly into our rooms with little waiting around.
Whilst exploring the hotel we discovered they had a wide range of facilities available. Downstairs was a large Tesco store, selling everything including live fish and pets and a few stalls to buy food from for lunch/dinner. On the ground floor there was a sandwich stand which does very nice toasted sandwiches and is situated next to a large clothes store.
Throughout other levels of the hotel there were numerous places to eat for a variety of different budgets and tastes, a bar on the top floor provided a nice atmosphere with great views and great service with a varied cocktail menu - which was extensively tried!
The hotels gym, swimming pool and sauna/steam room was of great quality - even if the naked sauna rule was a bit off putting! And there is also a free golf driving range which measures your distance and provides video feedback for you to perfect your swing. The gym provided shorts and T-shirts free of charge if required to wear to your room after, and then return (ooops).
Its location, although a taxi drive away from the bus stop to get a bus to the capital, is not bad. Opposite are an affordable pizzeria, and in the other direction (out and to the right, under the subway) has a larger, all you can eat buffet, serving a vast amount of dishes, including a BBQ grill for cooked while you wait items and a chocolate fountain with an array of items to coat. This restaurant included free soft drink refills and jugs of beer as well. Also, on the street opposite was a pool club, quite cheap for an hour or so of pool but was very very smoky!
I could not let myself finish this review without explaining the hidden gem of a nightclub which is accessed by going out of the back of the hotel, and then coming in through another door, then up a few floors in a lift....
...You will get swiftly escorted to your table, which you will need to pay for..but this includes the table, some snacks (pepper strips, crisps and fruit!? - in a nightclub!!) and a round of beers..we found these prices were different depending on the night or even the server...so keep a note of what you paid or buy one get one free offers and be sure not to be paying more than you should...it gets tricky after a few drinks, music and a foreign language..trust me!
When we first entered we thought it was a normal nightclub with tables, which was ok. But at the end of the music (15 minutes in), the decks went up into the roof, everyone cleared the floor in a matter of seconds, leaving us english on the floor looking like lost children with no one to play with. This was only to make way for a boy band who danced and sang for about 5 minutes, followed by another DJ (female). After she had played for about 10 minutes, she left the decks and started stripping and dancing! This was followed by some couple party games..which ended up with yet another fully naked woman somehow! They then followed this with more music, acting like nothing strange had happened at all...so yes...we went back the next night as well. We decided it must have been some sort of adult butlins/pontins style entertainment night. One more thing - There are private rooms on the side of the main room, this took us by surprise as we were seeing ladies go into these rooms and no-one come out, we were told that they were 'chill out' rooms which you could hire...but we didn't as we, probably incorrectly (maybe), thought they were more than 'chill out' rooms.
All in all, a very comfortable, luxury stay, i would surely recommend this hotel for these reasons and for its range of free facilities available and friendliness of the staff which helped us with booking taxis, buses and take aways which we could have ordered and then eat in the hotel.

Ramada Plaza Hotel Cheongju Apr 26, 2008
I'm currently staying in this hotel. The room is good size and tv is large. There's a dvd with surround speakers in the room but the movies have to be for this region. The a/c has not worked yet, I guess because it is not the summer yet. The front desk people do no understand that I'm asking about the a/c they keep saying "works tomorrow" is been 3 days of asking...(It is now very cold in Korea so the a/c is not needed)
The restaurants are okay. Chinese, Japanese and Korean buffet.
My room also has free internet access via broadband.
There is a movie teather next to the hotel with movies in Korean and English.
The Hotel also has a gym and indoor pool.
There is a nice dance club located in the rear of the hotel. You have to take the rear entrance of the hotel and make a left. The club is right there. The people start to arrive around 11pm and the atmosphere is great. Nice lights, tables, service, people and music.
