Rallarvegen Reviews

Rallarvegen is the Road from Myrdal Train station and downwards toward Voss. Its the road the railroad constructionworkers used when building the tracks from Oslo to Bergen. Apart from the history this is a truly amazing thing to do in the summer. (May untill august) , but the warmest months is july so this is a good time to go.

The scenery is truly amazing and since you are up the in mountains (1200 m above sealevel) the air is very clean (not that this is a problem anywhere in Norway, but Oslo). Start at Myrdal Trainstation and rent a bike to go down to flaamsbanen. I like to buy i tent (think you can rent it) and cycle in your own pace with several stopps along the way. Its also very romantic and ive used it as a date with good sucess. Watching the sunset without electricity with only a gas burner as a heat source.. Amazing..

Bring your own food so to save money. To buy food in the resutrants can be very expensive (like the rest of Norway). Use around 1500kr from Bergen and back again in 3days. You can get it cheaper if you skip the "Flaamsbanen", but dont skip it. Its worth the extra money.
