New Delhi, India
Rajghat - Front entrance to Rajghat, the final resting place of the mortal remains of Mahatma Ghandi. He was cremated here before his ashes were scattered in a sacred river a couple hundred miles from Delhi.
Rajghat - The perimeter of Rajghat is enclosed by a wall which is sloped on the other side with grass so you can walk up the grade to the top of the wall and look down inside. This is the aerial view from atop that wall.
Rajghat - This is the actual tablet where Ghandi was cremated.
Rajghat - Me standing in front of the tablet at Rajghat.

Mahatma Ghandi Jul 30, 2008
To me, this was one of the must see sites in Delhi. Not only was Ghandi the father of the modern Indian democracy, but he is also one of history's most inspirational leaders. Rajghat is the tranquil park designed around the stone table where Ghandi's body was cremated before his ashes were scattered in a river 200 miles fom Delhi. This sight is much akin to the JFK eternal flame at Arlington National Cemetary. Rajghat is very close to the Red Fort and should be seen either immediately before or after during your sightseeing tour in order to maximize your time. Both of these attractions are in "old" Delhi and traffic is aweful.
