Rainforest Chocolate Tour La Fortuna Reviews

In case you forgot, the natives of Costa Rica before the Europeans arrived to build resorts were big fans of Chocolate, and consumed vast amounts of it. This tour shows you how chocolate is made using traditional methods and lots of tastings. Fun Fact, the natives would make a chocolate drink and the priests would drink 20 - 30 cups of it per day ( they must've been hyped). They also give you all sorts of spices to mix with the chocolate goo that you make (some good, some a little pungent) In addition the tour group members get to actually make the chocolate!
The tour is fun, informative, and had people of all ages participating (kids to the elderly). Fun acts include chewing on COCO beans and spitting them into a box, roasting, and crushing the beans in various ways.... I really enjoyed smashing beans with a giant mortar. The actual plantation is not yet producing chocolate but there are some pretty plants nearby to look at.
THe only knocks of this tour is it is sort of expensive ( like 22 dollars per person); and it looks hard to get to if you don't got a car.
