Petting Zoo Jan 01, 2012
Rainbow Ranch is a petting zoo located in rural Nashville, Illinois. It is a collection of animals, both domestic and exotic. Tours are led by Farmer Al, the Ranch's owner and caretaker. He leads the visitors through the ranch explaining the animals and allowing people to pet the babies. He's also named all the animals, and knows who is who. When we visited there were 5 day old pot-bellied pigs!

You join the tour wherever it is on the ranch. Farmer Al makes sure everyone sees all the animals. If you visit during the fall (which we did), there is a corn maze and pumpkin patch to go through.

Rainbow Ranch is located south of Nashville, on Route 15. It's out of town a good five miles or so. It's on the east side of the road. There isn't a clear sign for it, I actually drove past and came back, after seeing the giant barn with Rainbow Ranch painted on it.

There is a $5/person admission fee/donation that goes toward the animal feed. Rainbow Ranch is a great place to visit if you've got young kids that adore animals.
