Muang Ngoi Neau, Laos
Rainbow House Muang Ngoi Neau Reviews
Rainbow House Mar 17, 2013
Muang Ngoi Neu was supposed to be our first destination in Laos, but we did not make it on time. Of course all transportation works in them known time schedule and you won’t break that code. In the morning we got a ride in Muang Khoua and after long argument with boat operators who did not want to leave until they get as much money from us as possible. So anyway, some stupid tourists were saying yes to blunt rape and we had to get on that boat somehow because it was the only one going down the river in the morning.
After pretty fast few hours filled with amazing scenery and crazy rapids which our captain run with the skill we got to the slow river area around our destination. And beautiful it was.
We fenced of few offers for lodging and start looking ourselves and of course found just perfect place to stay. Rainbow House is located on the right side when you climb the dock stairs and it is big two story modern building. They asked for 50000kip for double room with bathroom and we gladly said yes to that.
Room was on the second floor with grand beautiful terrace overlooking the first row of buildings and looking to the scene of mountains and a bit of the river. Bamboo beds are placed in the front of the every room so you can enjoy in the breeze and view. They also have small restaurant in the front of the building, but I did not go there because their neighbors had really beautiful setting with terrace overlooking the river and having great benches with lots of pillows to lie on.
Room is very spacious with high ceilings and huge bed. Bathroom is equally large with tons of wasted space. Shower does not have hot water and usually power comes only during the afternoon and night.
Little town is precious and it is perfect place to get “stuck” for long time. Surroundings are excellent tor any kind of tracking, caving, water enjoying… Food is great, everything fresh and prepared with care. In the morning, few restaurants bring out buffet breakfast which is to die for. Not to be missed.
