The rooms where okay the beds in China are rubish. They are very hard and not comfortable. They staff is not speaking proper english but that's everywhere in China. You really need to talk with hands and feeds :p It's a big hotel, big lounge and two diner places. One buffet corner where you can eat breakfast and diner. And one diner place. The internet is free and there is a internet cable for your laptop in the room. The bathroom is quite nice. With bath and toilet. In the direct neighbourhood is not much special to eat. There is small store across the street where you can buy some beers and small bites like noddles and cookies.

Good, clean hotel Apr 27, 2010
The Rainbow Hotel was my hotel for 1 night in Beijing. The building is quite modern compared to the rest of the neighbourhood. The entrance hall was grand and luxurious.

The staff at the hotel was very helpful, although checking in did took its time, maybe because we were a group. Despite having several computers, the check in was still done manually and with papers.

I had a pleasant stay in this hotel, the room was a deluxe room and spacious, even for 2 persons. The beds however were quite hard. Not was I used to. All in all I did had a good nights sleep and no problem falling asleep.

The bathroom was quite spacious as well, clean and had all the necessary items, including some items for a wild night ;)

Across the hotel is a restaurant and a small supermarket was about 5 minutes walk away. The nearest attraction from the hotel is the Temple of Heaven, about 2 kilometers walk.

All in all, this is a good hotel to stay in. I don't know about the costs for my room, as it was included in the tour package.

Decent hotel for groups Nov 21, 2009
The Rainbow or "Bei Wei" hotel is a large tourist class type of accommodation in a residential area south of Tienamen Square and rather close to the Temple of Heaven. It's location is not really walking distance (half an hour walk) from the Forbidden City, but by taxi it is in easy reach of all major attractions.

Despite the mastodon size, it offers rather spacy and clean rooms and a decent breakfast. The only negative remark I can add is that smoking is allowed and despite staying in a non-smoking room, the smoke still penetrates via ventilation shafts and from the corridors in which peaople smoke while waiting for the elevators.
