Hong Kong in the Rainy season Jul 10, 2008
There is always a 60% chance of rain here in Hong Kong. Especially if it is June, July, or August. It will probably rain every day for a week, then maybe only 3 days the next week, but don't be surprised if it rains every day the whole time you're here.
If there is a typhoon, go to 7-11, buy some Tsingtao or San Miguel, and drink. That's what everyone else does. Nothing will be open, don't even try. Even if it's not raining that much (you think) everyone else doesn't have to work so nothing will be open. When the storm goes back to Level 3, within two hours everyone has to be back at work. So, be prepared for the crazy traffic jam in the middle of the afternoon and wait, then eventually life will return to normal :)
Even if it is raining or likely to rain, don't be discouraged. Buy a good umbrella and carry it with you all the time. It usually rains in the morning and then the sun might even come out in the afternoon so just take advantage of the sun when you find it.

rained. Due to the rain, the group dropped from 8 tourists to just two, myself and a man from Bombay who didn't mind the rain. The rain actually killed the humidity feeling, giving us a comfortable cool hike. Furthermore, the rain was light in nature… Summary of my time in Hong Kong

While sitting there, it started raining. Really heavy rain, that is. I waited for the rain to stop for like half an hour... but no way, the rain kept falling. So I decided to go shopping to IFC mall by MTR and wait until rain stopped. IFC mall has - like… Day 2 - Great... I overslept!

I headed over after classes were canceled because of the rain for a nice dinner at the Shangri-La Hotel. After what I thought would be a quick walk to the hotel we arrived at the nicest hotel I have ever seen. Unfortunately it started raining buckets on the way and we showed up looking… Drenched in HK

On Tuesday, the afternoon was clear after a morning rain shower, and so it was pretty much us and the locals on the island. I had some great bean cake and "Cheung Chau-style" fried rice with dried shrimp that I would recommend. On Saturday, the island was much more tourist-filled, as I saw at least… Cheung Chau Island
