Rag & Famish Reviews

The Rag & Famish Hotel, or The Rag is the oldest and one of the only traditional style pubs still standing in North Sydney.
From their website: 'The Rag' offers a full range of hotel facilities including a large range of icy cold beers on tap, a la carte, bistro and bar snacks dining options, indoor and outdoor areas, a sumptuous "chesterfield' lounge, entertainment, function venues, special events and most importantly the traditional friendly atmosphere and service. From my experience: So I arrived a day later than my collegue to Sydney and they had already eaten at the Pub/Bistro across the street, but wanted to take me there - 1. because it was close to the office and 2. I was buying. The Rag consists of a hotel, a Pub/Bistro, and a full service restaruant. They ate at teh Pub/Bistro yesterday and advised that the food was very good and reasonable in price. The Pub/Bistro menu can be found here: http://www.ragandfamish.com.au/html/downstairs_menu.htm the Pub is your typical pub fare, but well done. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is open and airy with plenty of seating. However, venturing up to the restaruant with raise both your heart rate from the stairs and the increase in the price of the lunch menu items. The upstairs menu can be found here: http://www.ragandfamish.com.au/html/dinnermenu.htm Service for the both the downstairs pub and the upstairs restaraunt were execellent. For lunch I ordered a veal parm - and it was the largest I had every seen. It also came with a side salad with wonderful tomoatoes, greens and delicate vinegrette. The taste was above average - but as I just got off the 14 hours flight of plane food this morning - it was the best thing I had tasted. I rate it as expensive as the upstairs menu is the same for lunch and dinner - so expect to pay dinner prices at lunch. For 5 people I laid down $156 AUD, but the lunch was delightful for the price. Overall a great place - and I am sure I will end up in the pub after work morethan once over the next two weeks of working here. Cheers to all! Part of the Business Man's Sydney travel blog |
