Rafael Travel Reviews

Jan 21, 2007

Located in a restored colonial mansion in Miraflores, this small and cozy restaurant offers an exquisite fusion of Peruvian and Mediterranean traditions mixed up with Asian influences.

The owner Rafael Osterling is one of the most renowned Peruvian chefs who launched the restaurant after gaining international experience at London's Bibendum and Le Poissonnerie. The restaurant offers a very extensive and varied menu with something available for every taste, be that meat, fish, pasta or vegetarian. Of course, given the amazing seafood available in Peru, fish dishes and appetizers are very recommended. the restaurant also has a great bar that serves very good martinis and pretty much anything one can think of, offering a great way to start up the night.

On a more personal note, while Rafael is expensive by Peruvian standards, I think it is very affordable when compared with restaurants of similar quality and high level cuisine found in Europe or the USA.  Thoroughly recommended on your next visit to Lima so you can see for yourself why Lima is one of the greatest places in the world for those who love experimenting the pleasures of food. Oh, it also serves my favorite classical cheesecake in town!

yadilitta says: We say that the peruvian is "Pollero", that means that he eats a lot of chicken. So, it's no suprise that the country is full of "pollos a la brasa" roast chicken restaurants. Nevertheless, Pardo's Chicken is the best one! It's everywhere in Lima and is a more upscaled polleria. Pollo a la brasa is ...
