Radolfzell am Bodensee Vacation Guide

Radolfzell am Bodensee (short Radolfzell or R’zell, Bodensee -> English: Lake Constance) is located in the Southern part of Baden-Wurttemberg, about 20km away from Konstanz (English: Constance) at the part of Lake Constance which is called “Zeller See“. This part of the lake marks the border to Switzerland. In 826 AD, Radolfzell was founded by Bishop Radolf of Verona who called it “Zell”. The city seal shows the lion of Habsburg and the cross of the monastery of Reichenau. To Radolfzell also belong the communities of Böhringen, Güttingen, Liggeringen, Markelfingen, Möggingen and Stahringen.
The city allures people with it’s charming historical center, the long esplanade at the lake with a yacht port and with a health resort on the peninsula Mettnau. The carnival, here called Fasnacht or Fasnet, has a long tradition in Radolfzell. It takes place in January or February for around a week each year.
The economy consists of automotive engineering/electronics, machine construction/automation, pump engineering and more and more information and communication technology. Regional fruits are made into fruit juice at a company called Schlör. A well-known company is Schiesser which designs underwear.
