This review of the hotel will be a bit limited as I only stayed there for one night in April 2007. I arrived late in the evening and left early in the morning so this is merely my impression of the room and check in/check out.

I went to Gothenburg on a short company trip in April 2007. I took a taxi from the airport to the hotel. The taxis seem to operate on fixed prizes and I think I paid about 320 SEK (about 47 $) for the drive. At least it contained some excitement as the driver came up to 160 km/h (about 100 mph) on the highway into town…in a Volvo of course.

The check in was fast and then I went looking for my room…257 I think it was. To avoid strangers getting in one must use the room key to open the elevator. The rooms are spread out in a big square with an atrium in the middle. My room was of course located on the far side of the elevators so it felt like it took forever to walk to the room. At least the room was close to an ice machine :-)

The room was pretty generous in size. It started out with a tiled floor but the main portion of the room was with carpet in shades of blue and yellow. I got a room with two beds with some funky looking decorations in the back (that matched the patters in the carpet I guess). The walls were painted in light colors and the furniture was it light wood. The main piece of furniture was the TV stand. This contained a place to put the suitcase, the TV itself, a mini bar, a safe and an ironing board and an iron. Quite a genius collection of functions in one piece of furniture :-) The TV contained lots of channel including Norwegian ones so it was basically just like being at home.

There was also a desk with a chair where I could place the laptop. Radisson SAS hotel have free WiFi access and it was just a matter of putting in the surname and room number to get access to the net…it is always nice to be online even if you are away from home. The desk also contained a water boiler in case you want some tea or coffee.

If you are entertaining visitors there are also a nice light brown leather chair and a two seat sofa around a small glass table. The room also contained a door out to a small veranda where you could overlook the atrium. I’m not sure this has much function but the view was nice.

The bathroom was with dark tiles on the floor and light tiles on the walls. There was a large mirror area around the sink and enough lighting. I don’t like the Radisson hotels bathroom amenities by the way. There are small containers of shampoo and shower soap but they are container where you rip of the lid. If you are only staying for one night this is a total waste as you only use a little and you can’t bring it with as the lid can not be put back on. There was a bathtub with a shower option and a shower curtain. Normally I’m not a big fan of the shower curtain but here there was enough space to avoid the dreaded “shower curtain stuck to the back” situation.

I had breakfast in the morning and the buffet was very nice. There was a good selection of bread with a nice variety of spreads, cereal, warm stuff (sausages, bacon, scrambles eggs etc) and so on.

I think the conclusion must be that this is a modern hotel with nice room of a pretty generous size. The hotel is also located what seems to be in the middle of town so it is easy to access the city. This was a hotel experience like it should be. I would not mind staying at this hotel again and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others. The room cost about 1900 Swedish kroner (280 $)
