Radisson SAS Royal Garden Hotel Trondheim - Reviews - Trondheim

SAS Radisson in Trondheim is situated very close to the city centre. The hotel is next to the water and is built with a glass frame around 3 or 4 building blocks. Arriving from the airport is very easy with airport express bus which for a fare of 12 euro brings you straight to the door. Be prepared that it will take you 30-40 min from the airport, but it is much cheaper than taking a taxi that will cost you min 80 euro for the 35 km.

The entrance or lounge is large and open. The receptions desks are to the right when you arrive but are easily recognized by the blonde women standing behind the counters. I am sure that is a criterion in order to be hired there. The girls were sweet and smiling; not bad when you arrive late in the evening.

The hotel had probably a couple of years on its back. My room had an ok size but wasn't really nice. Some things were broken. The chain at the door had been torn out like someone had kicked the door in. The floor wooden floor looked like it had hosted a lot of parties or worse.
The design was intended to simulate the environment of a boat, and I didn't like it at all. The room was feeling small and crowded. It had an old and used feeling about it.

The breakfast was great and it was one of the high lights of the stay in the hotel. Staying at hotel in the holiday season meant that there were a lot of families at the hotel and children running around.

The parking in the basement garage was expensive 185 Nkr or 25 euro per night but it was much cheaper than the parking fine I got in front of the hotel when I arrived; it was 700 Nkr or 93 euro!!

All in all one of the worst SAS Radisson I have stayed in - just above the one in Frederiksberg, Denmark.

Service minded and friend staff though, but the hotel left an impression of being a used and not maintained hotel.
