Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel Gothenburg (Sweden) Reviews
Gothenburg's finest Apr 30, 2012
Situated close to the trainstation in the middle of the city, its hard to complain about that location. The rooms have windows inwards to a built in square where the restaurant is. Its very modern, and the vibe is that this is a place for the more important bussinessmen. The rooms are spotless and very quiet.
The food is among the best I've had. It´s also a good place to try some of swedens more modern foods.
The service is excellent and they walk the extra mile to make sure you get the info you need. There is parking, you just leave the keys in the reception and when you want it again they get it for you.
Shopping is just around the corner (2min walk), however one of gothenburgs main attractions (liseberg, themepark) is a bit far away, maybe 30 mins walking, lots to see on the way though, including the mainstreet "Avenyn" beeing half of the way.

A bit of Las Vegas in the north May 18, 2010
How could a hotel, which costs more than 140€ get a worse rating than good or even excellent?
After my flight was cancelled I got acommodated for a night in the Radisson. (After that I decided to fly with Lufthansa whenever possible :D)
Even in 4 or 5-star hotels it happens that the rooms are furnished quite old fashioned or pragmatic. However, the room I got was really beautiful and hat some nice little extras like tea bags, some coffee and a water boiler which I appreciated very much after the stressful day
With the 200kr-voucher I ordered a salmon wrap and a chocolate soufflée in the hotel bar. Both were just delicious and the hotel bar and the restaurant very nice. They are located in the atrium of the hotel and have a wonderful ambience with a kind of fountain, the high ceiling and the fact of being completely open.
It provides every service one can expect from a hotel of this kind. Wireless lan, a computer with free access, a SPA and a wonderful breakfast buffet.
The location is not directly in the city centre among shops, bars and clubs, but very close to the train station. so one it's easy to get from there to the airport even at night and to the centre itself it's only a 10 min walk. For those, who are to lazy or tired there is good connection with trams.
Oh, and concerning the bed: Rarely had such a great sleep!

This review of the hotel will be a bit limited as I only stayed there for one night in April 2007. I arrived late in the evening and left early in the morning so this is merely my impression of the room and check in/check out.
I went to Gothenburg on a short company trip in April 2007. I took a taxi from the airport to the hotel. The taxis seem to operate on fixed prizes and I think I paid about 320 SEK (about 47 $) for the drive. At least it contained some excitement as the driver came up to 160 km/h (about 100 mph) on the highway into town…in a Volvo of course.
The check in was fast and then I went looking for my room…257 I think it was. To avoid strangers getting in one must use the room key to open the elevator. The rooms are spread out in a big square with an atrium in the middle. My room was of course located on the far side of the elevators so it felt like it took forever to walk to the room. At least the room was close to an ice machine :-)
The room was pretty generous in size. It started out with a tiled floor but the main portion of the room was with carpet in shades of blue and yellow. I got a room with two beds with some funky looking decorations in the back (that matched the patters in the carpet I guess). The walls were painted in light colors and the furniture was it light wood. The main piece of furniture was the TV stand. This contained a place to put the suitcase, the TV itself, a mini bar, a safe and an ironing board and an iron. Quite a genius collection of functions in one piece of furniture :-) The TV contained lots of channel including Norwegian ones so it was basically just like being at home.
There was also a desk with a chair where I could place the laptop. Radisson SAS hotel have free WiFi access and it was just a matter of putting in the surname and room number to get access to the net…it is always nice to be online even if you are away from home. The desk also contained a water boiler in case you want some tea or coffee.
If you are entertaining visitors there are also a nice light brown leather chair and a two seat sofa around a small glass table. The room also contained a door out to a small veranda where you could overlook the atrium. I’m not sure this has much function but the view was nice.
The bathroom was with dark tiles on the floor and light tiles on the walls. There was a large mirror area around the sink and enough lighting. I don’t like the Radisson hotels bathroom amenities by the way. There are small containers of shampoo and shower soap but they are container where you rip of the lid. If you are only staying for one night this is a total waste as you only use a little and you can’t bring it with as the lid can not be put back on. There was a bathtub with a shower option and a shower curtain. Normally I’m not a big fan of the shower curtain but here there was enough space to avoid the dreaded “shower curtain stuck to the back” situation.
I had breakfast in the morning and the buffet was very nice. There was a good selection of bread with a nice variety of spreads, cereal, warm stuff (sausages, bacon, scrambles eggs etc) and so on.
I think the conclusion must be that this is a modern hotel with nice room of a pretty generous size. The hotel is also located what seems to be in the middle of town so it is easy to access the city. This was a hotel experience like it should be. I would not mind staying at this hotel again and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others. The room cost about 1900 Swedish kroner (280 $)
