Radisson Blu Hotel Bodo Reviews
A convenient place to stay in Bodø Jan 04, 2010
Radisson Blu Hotel Bodø is located right in the center, close to most restaurants and cafes. It is right at the quay and only a 5 minutes walk from where Hurtigruten, the old postship moors. I have stayed here several times in the past 10 years. Some of the reception staff is still the same.
One evening we arrived around midnight. As I walked in the door the heal of my boot fell off. A bit desperat I asked the reseptionist if he had super glue. He told me to leave the boot with him and he would fix it during the night. In the morning I went downstairs, a bit curious to what he had done to my boot. He had not only fixed it, he had also polished it. That is what I call unique service.
The rooms are small, but convenient and they have a fantastic view of the coast and the islands. Every room is equiped with free wi-fi, minibar, coffee and tea making facilities as well as iron and ironing board.
The only down side with the rooms is the temperature in the summer. It gets very hot and there is no A/C. The windows can only be opened 5 cm/2 inches. If you open the window it will be a little noisy too as there are millions of sea gulls outside.
Breakfast is very good and it can be enjoyed in a large open room overlooking the harbour. In the summer there is outdoor dining, which is incredibly beautiful when it's midnight sun and warm.
On the top floor is the Top 13 Bar. The view is incredible both summer and winter. The staff is very nice and service minded. From Monday – Friday between 11-15 they serve a light lunch. I can recommend the warm waffles. The bar is also open 19-01:30.
In the basement of the hotel you will find a bowling hall as well as a restaurant (they are not run by the hotel). The Restaurant Krydder is nothing I would recommend. The portions were small, not very tasty and pricey.
Bodø is not the centre of the world, but if you need accommodation before boarding or after disembarking the Hurtigruten (a cruise along the Norwegian coast), Radisson Blu Hotel Bodø is a nice place to stay.
