RV campgrounds in Port Aransas Brownsville Reviews
Jan 11, 2007
Since you asked for
RV alternatives in south Texas,
allow me to nominate Port Aransas. This
fishing/tourist village lies about a three hour drive north of Brownsville
on Mustang Island
offshore from Corpus Christi. Many snowbirds camp out here during the
winter months and I think it is a good option.
The island is fairly
narrow and of the several RV parks, all seem to be beachfront…so great
views! Fishing is excellent here
year-round and it is a major flyway for migrating birds. The only reason I’m really aware of any RV
parks here is because I ventured onto the grounds of one (the one whose web
site is included) to get a picture of a roseate spoonbill one afternoon! The last week of February they have a
Whooping Crane celebration – so you have a chance to see one of these beauties
should you opt to hibernate here.
Fun eateries abound
in “Port A” and with Corpus Christi
a half-hour away you shouldn’t be lacking for any practical or entertainment
needs. Hang out until late March/early
April and you can catch the Sand Fest… which you could probably walk to right
from the campground.
Please feel free to contact me if you think this
is worth checking out --- I lived in Corpus
Christi for several years and am reasonably familiar with
the area. Happy hunting!
