2 ships in one city Dec 05, 2012
These 2 ships are anchored in the city on the different places.

RRS Discovery ship is located near the railway station in Dundee at the place called 'Discovery Point'. The ship was built in Dundee docks and returned there after being berthed on the river Thames and was opened to the public. The exhibition starts in the museum, where are described different items from the life of sailors and operation of the ship, as well as the expedition of Robert Falcon Scott to the South Pole. Once you leave the museum, you enter the anchored ship. I liked the one, as it is possible to go and see, where the crew was living.

The other interesting ship in Dundee is The Frigate Unicorn (www.frigateunicorn.org). This is the oldest anchored ship in the UK and is located in Victoria Dock. The ship was built in 1824 (after Napoleonic wars) and even if being a war ship was actually never used for the purpose. That's also a reason, why is such well preserved. You need to walk to the Dock about 15 min. from the railway station. The dock itself has changed into the new housing and just a few remained from the old one. I didn't go inside, but even from outside the ship looks majestic.

If you fancy ships or stay in Dundee, these are main places of interest in the city.
