Rå Sushi & Bar Tromso Reviews
Excellent sushi Apr 14, 2011
Rå Sushi & Bar is located in the heart of Tromsø, right across the street from the library. It is the first pure sushi restaurant in Tromsø.
This was the first time I ate there and it was a great experience. The staff was polite, helpful and friendly and the atmosphere nice and warm. The two chefs are Japanese, but born and raised in Brazil. They speak Portuguese, but no Japanese.
There were so many tempting things on the menu so I could not decide. I ended up ordering a 14 piece menu so I could try different things. The menu consisted of Nigeri sushi (prawn, halibut and salmon), Futo Maki (salmon and spicy Ebi) and Ura/Kabura Sushi (Alaska roll and California roll). I can only say: “Wow”. This was fantastic sushi. Some of the Nigeri sushi had an interesting touch to it. The halibut had cest of lime on it, which gave it a different, but great taste. The salmon was flambé in a tasty sauce.
Rå Sushi & Bar serves red, white and rosé wine as well as sake, beer (Norwegian, Japanese, Mexican, US and German) and champagne. Alcohol is expensive in Norway and prices range from $49-$164 a bottle and $10-$14 a glass. A beer will set you back $10-$13.
If you are not too found of seafood they also have a salad and teriyaki marinated chicken skewer. If you like seafood, but are not comfortable with raw fish you can order the fried salmon or prawn sushi. For vegetarians, they have a 14 piece vegetarian sushi menu for $28. Take Away is also possible.
I can highly recommend Rå Sushi & Bar. I specially liked the twist they had to the traditional nigeri sushi. I will definitely eat there again.
