Sterotypical South American Square Aug 14, 2012
In the middle of Quito, Ecuadorr, as is the case with most former Spanish colonial nations, lies a charming central square. Dominated by 400 year old Spaniard influence, as you spin 360 degrees, you notice beautiful buildings as far as the eye can see. Scattered throughout are green palm trees and exotic flowers. As you weave your way through narrow city streets, some that seemingly reach near vertical in ascent, you notice endless artisan shops, cafes and restaurants. As most travelers to Ecuador are participating in the "ecotourism" realm, a short two-day side trip could be warranted and this would be a great place to start. Especially for the fan of architecture and architecture photography, this is a must see.
