The word Quintessence suggests the highest level of perfection, but this is just a run-of-the-mill, Chinese business hotel with few frills. If you need to be near the Hangzhou Railway Station, this hotel is convenient - a 10 minute walk or taxi drive. The staff are efficient when it comes to basic tasks like check-in or wake-up calls. They also deal promptly with any problems you may have e.g. Internet not working.

The best aspect of this hotel is the free Internet provided in your room. It is a little slow, but functional. The Chinese-style breakfast buffet is also quite extensive and food is good.

This is a business hotel, not a tourist hotel and this is reflected in the location and staff knowledge. In theory, this hotel is not far from the lake but if you go to Hangzhou on a busy weekend, it could be an hour by bus or taxi. Week days (except during National Holidays) should not be a problem. Staff cannot help with even basic questions about tourist attractions or buses.

In summary, stay here for business but find somewhere closer to the lake if visiting for pleasure.
