Good introductory mountain Sep 08, 2010
Quinag is the farthest north of the Torridonian sandstone mountains. It is about 2600 feet high and forms a Y shape with three tops. There are two reasons for thinking it a good introduction to mountain walking, apart from the splendid views that apply to anything in this area. The first is that you can 'cheat' by doing about 800 feet by road before you start walking, if you start at the highest point of the A894 heading from Loch Assynt to Kylescu.

The second reason is that it is fairly easy to walk the ridges, that are considerably broader than those on Suilven or Stac Pollaidh. However anybody doing all three tops will know what a day in the mountains feels like.
