Want great hiking and adventure with excellent guides?
Go to Quetzaltrekkers. Simple as that!!! The guides are great, they´ll make your trip perfect. They are a not for profit organisation, run entirely by volunteering travellers. All ´profits´ from the treks go to EDELAC (Escuela de la Calle), a school, dormitory and medical centre set up in 1995 to benefit streetkids. If you´ve got 3 months to spare as part of your trip you can volunteer as a guide, if you´ve got a bit less you can volunteer at the school. Quetzaltrekkers need your trekking and camping gear to loan out on future treks so donate your gear when you´re done!! E-mail now at info@quetzaltrekkers.com

The Spanish lessons have been great although quite tough as we had 5 hours a day 1-2-1 with a personal teacher. Brain-overload!!!!
We are doing some treks with Quetzaltrekkers, visiting surrounding villages and some hot springs while we are based in Xela, see later entries for all these!!! … ooooh, cold |

We came back here to do the 6-day trek from Nebaj with Quetzaltrekkers that we had to cancel last month due to a lovely stomach parasite for both of us.
This time though, Simon has caught the Man Flu and so we have had to cancel again. We are just not destined to do this trek!! We are both… Back to Xela |
