Queens Hotel Dubai Reviews
Lower your expectations and you wont be dissapointed. May 19, 2012
Queens Hotel Dubai.
A half hour taxi ride from the airport and we arrived at Queens Hotel in the East Deira district of Dubai. The Hotel frontage is non descript and it would be easy to walk right past the main entrance if you had never been there before. First impressions, front lobby reasonably clean and uncluttered. Front desk and consierge clearly evident, and staff were friendly enough. Checking in was a painless process and they seemed to know who we were, and it took no time before we got our room key and instructions to get there.
The room however was below par for me. The bed looked like it had just been roughly made seconds before we arrived, and on closer inspection of the sheets, we found recent stains on the cover sheet and pillows with hair and what appeared to be stains on the pillows as well. I phoned the front desk and demanded housekeeping rectify immediately or we would be checking out. Issue resolved quickly. Apparently they were running behind schedule in the housekeeping due to staff absences. ?
The bathroom was all together far too small for me, the room dimensions would be tight for a midget let alone a 6’3” 130kg male and there’s no way my roomy and I could be in there at the same time. The actual shower area was a semi-circled shower curtain which barely contained the water splashes resulting in a virtual lake on the floor after each shower, and nothing worse than the shower curtain sticking to your back while you’re showering due to the confined space.
The restaurant on the ground floor was clean enough, but the food was nothing to write home about. Wi-Fi was available at a cost, but the internet leads were rough and stuck together with electrical tape. We didn’t make use of the swimming pool at all which is beside the restaurant, and it looked clean.
The location of the Hotel was perfect though, we were virtually in the heart of the CBD, and a 10 minute walk from the front desk we were on the banks of the Deira creek, where we took a dhow boat ride. There were pleanty of the usual street vendors right outside the Hotel doors selling everything from silk ties to freshly pressed orange juice.
The front desk staff were helpful in terms of recommending things to do and organising tour groups both large and small. We had a city tour organised for us by the staff at the Hotel and their recommendations and tips to save money proved to be spot on, so we were thankful for that. Seeing Dubai in a double decker scenic bus tour is definitely the way to go, and you can get an all day bus pass, which allows you to get off and on at any stop point if you want to get off and do your own exploring for a while prior to getting back on the bus. Night tours of Dubai were also amazing and a must do.
This place wasn’t overly expensive, but not cheap either, and we both agreed it fell below our expectations.

Good enough for a cheap stay Feb 01, 2009
This is a two star hotel and doesn't deserve more. It is rather old and run down, especially the showers. On the other hand, I would recommend it to anybody who can't afford a five-start hotel. It is one of the very cheapest hotels you can get in Dubai (still expect to pay US$100/night) and is quite liveable, no worse than a two star hotel in Australia or the US. The staff are helpful and let us check in at 7:30am (allowing for a good nap after an overnight flight) and it is in a really nice location to see the traditional heart of Dubai (Deira). One problem was that taxi drivers had never heard of it, so I'd print out the instructions and map that I added as a photo.
