Queen's Day in Amsterdam Mar 02, 2008
Held on the 30th of April, Queen's Day is one of the main Dutch national celebrations. Pretty much every town has some kind of festival going on, though most of it is concentrated around the big cities.

Major party spot of these is, of course, Amsterdam. Tens of thousands of people from throughout the country flood to the city, all dressed in orange, crowding the entire city centre. Large stages are placed at the major squares (Rembrandt-, Leidse-) boasting national and international DJ's and bands, and smaller stages, bands, DJ's and (of course) bars selling beer are all throughout the streets. The ambience is usually very, very nice with people cheerful and happy, and any disturbances are well controlled by the police (with riot cops at the ready)

No matter what you've seen, I'm sure not much will compare to the total mayhem the city seems to be in during this day :D
