Quantico Vacation Guide
Quantico, a small town in Northern Virginia, is mostly known as the home of one of the largest Marine Corps bases in the country. The base is the site of the Marine Corps Combat Development Command and HMX-1 (the presidential helicopter squadron). Every Marine Corps Officer must rotate through Quantico at least twice in his/her career starting with Officer Candidate School. It is also home to the Marine Security Guard (MSG) School, where embassy guards are trained, the Marine Corps Sniper School, CIA labs, the FBI Academy, and DEA training facilities. Located immediately off of I-95 just 30 minutes south of Washington D.C., it is well worth the time to stop in on the National Museaum of the Marine Corps. It is free and you can spend from 1 hour to all day. Very impressive.
