Quality Hotel Santo Domingo

We stayed one night before leaving on a 7-day cruise out of Santo Domingo.

The front desk staff spoke good English, which helped us out quite a bit. Many of the staff did not (except for the restaurant, they also spoke limited but working English). I knew some Spanish, so communication with everyone was not a problem.

The outdoor pool was smaller but very clean. The grass area by the pool was extremely well kept. The entire hotel and grounds are gated with a guard at the front.

Our room was small but effective and clean. The housekeeping staff were quick and efficient when we needed towels and other linens. All linens were very clean. Our bed was comfortable.

Where this hotel shines is the restaurant. The food was EXCELLENT! The buffet was well stocked and had a large selection. Breakfast was very impressive with hot and cold selections (including fresh fruit to DIE for - YUM YUM!) There was also a small bar with a friendly bartender. It was never busy.

Please note that this hotel is quite a ways out of downtown - closer to the airport. It's located just next to Las Americas Free Zone. Taxi rides to downtown will run you about $15 USD. There is a taxi price list at the front desk. The front desk will also help arrange transportation for you. There is really nothing to walk and see (except for the rocks across the busy highway - there's a walking bridge down to them). However, no real night-life or attractions. It's a quiet hotel - but not far from the airport.

For $200 USD, 5 adults enjoyed a comfortable evening, a great dinner, an excellent breakfast, time by the pool on a tropical island, and a clean room. What more could you ask for?
