Pysanka museum - huge easter egg. Kolomyya Reviews
Welcome to Kolomyya city! Aug 22, 2011
19th of August Birth Day of Kolomyya city... This year locals celebrated 770 years city of Kolomyya. It is small town of Kolomiya in the West Ukraine in Ivano-Frankivsk region, where is located a modern wonder of Ukraine, the world's largest Pysanka (Easter egg) museum.
It is absolutely unlike a typical museum. It is very modern. There are exhibition of all types of Easter Eggs from all regions of Ukraine aand from abroad. Its collection is made up of more than 10,000 pysankas.
You can learn to paint egg by yourself. Guide will tell you about paints symbolism that goes back into the misty past. The symbol of an egg is present in many ancient cultures of the world. The typical symbols are the swastika or the circle with a dot in the centre, the sun symbol; the square and the rhombus with a dot in the centre, the symbol of a sown field; the symbol of water and time... etc. Pysanka is a reflection of ancient tradition, philosophy of life, calendar and prayer. The egg is a symbol of life.
Welcome to Ukraine! Very welcome to Kolomyya!
I was born in this city, but every time I come back here its impressing me :)
