Do you need a mental challenge? Sep 08, 2008
Puzzling World in Wanaka is a really nice place for everyone, who loves tricky puzzles, optical illusions and a self-challenge in a good maze.
I’ve been to Puzzling World and absolutely enjoyed this experience! You can easily divide your visit into three parts. First of all you can check how talented and patient you are with the help of dozens of different puzzles (and you don’t even have to pay an entry for this activity). Then you can visit the illusion rooms including the Hall of Following Faces, which is unique in the entire world. But don’t get seasick! You’ll learn how easy it is to trick our human senses, though. Honestly, I’ve never felt that bad after a roller coaster ride. And then you can try to find your quick way through the wooden maze. I just say that after I had walked through the illusion rooms the maze has been a much bigger challenge because there was just a tiny sense of direction left ;-).
Don’t forget to have a look at the pretty special Roman-style toilets. They are worth a photo!
Furthermore you can buy a lot of interesting and challenging puzzles and games at the gift shop. You can find both traditional kiwi puzzles and modern games in there.
Welcome to Puzzling World

After we came off the glacier we jumped straight into the car and headed for Wanaka, it was a long drive in the rain so didn't stop for much, just a few spectacular rapids and view points along the coast (knight's point, photos to fol…Puzzle World. After an excellent weekend with some family ,it was almost time to get back to Dunedin. But not before going up Mt. Iron. It's about 450m high, so just a wee one. Normally takes about 1.5 hours to get to the top and then back to the carpark. So we did…Puzzling World (definitely need to go there sometime if you like puzzles!) After the walk we were off to Dunedin again. We came through Clyde, where there's a dam in Lake Dunstan to protect the city of Clyde. We had lunch in Ophir, the place… Last day in Wanaka, going back to Dunedin

We really love Wanaka!  We chose to stop at Wanaka instead of Queenstown (where all the "adrenaline sports" fanatics go!) and we were not sorry.  On the way into town, we went to the fantastic Puzzling World following a tip from one of J…Puzzling World following a tip from one of Jeremy's colleagues (thanks Sue B!) - a giant maze and series of illusions.  We must admit that the maze had us foxed - we were wandering around for ages trying to find each of the four corners… Wanaka

Lucky me, I got the opportunity of spending my winter holiday in Wanaka and Cadrona. The atmosphere in Wanaka, which is so small that it reminded me of my home village, was absolutely awesome.
