Too big hotel for such small town Jul 27, 2011
When we stayed at the Pushkar Palace, it was not busy at all with customers. It's quite a big hotel, so it was quite empty. When you enter the city, it's quite fast at the beginning of the lake.

I think the hotel is just too big for the town it is built in. It's built in typical Rajasthani style. But it is missing the right ambiance in my opinion. The reason why it is that big, is that it was the former palace of the Maharaja of Kishangarh. And all these Maharajas always wanted to have the biggest palaces.

The rooms and the bathrooms were very nice and quite big too. The room was actually devided into one sleeping room that you entered. When you openend the door to the bathroom, you had the bathroom at the left trhough a port that was typical Eastern style and at the left a place where was a closet and we could store our backpacks.

We had a great view over the lake with all the ghats, too. But in the hotel was not a lot to do. We had breakfast in quite a small room compared to the size of the hotel. We were sitting there all by our own in first case. So that was boring for in a restaurant area. The rooms were very clean, so that was not a point of issue. Only the mattress on the bed ware not that soft, because they were quite thin. But that was not such a big deal, since we had a good night of sleep there.

What I found very nice of this hotel, was that there are a lot of details on the building itself. It's really looking like an Eastern fairytail where you are staying at. Also the furniture in all the rooms is typical Rajasthani, which gave it all a special element. For sure you can say that they tried to make it as mysterious as possible.

If I would return to Pushkar one day, I would try to find a smaller hotel with a nicer atmosphere. This one was good for staying one night and just for sleeping. But it did not attracted you to hang around in the hotel itself. Which is a pity, since the hotel does look nice in first case.
