Pura Vida Beach and Dive Resort Dauin Reviews
Great resort for diving Jun 11, 2015
I really liked this resort. It isn't expensive at Php3,234/night for their non-aircon standard bungalows. The bungalows are very nice. Space is adequate, nothing fancy but cheap for the value. We didn't find it warm to stay there, although we were there in November of 2011 so I am not sure if it will be too warm in summer time. I love the lawn outside and every bungalow has a veranda.
What impressed me most about this place is their service. Like many resorts, the staff are mostly women here. Many guests are foreigners. However, the staff seemed to be well trained. We felt adequately serviced from organized booking of room and diving to food served in their restaurant.
The staff were also courteous but professional. No unnecessary interactions with guests that sometimes happen in other resorts. Overall experience felt like a 5 star resort. They are prompt, friendly and professional. Very impressive.
Food is also good here. We enjoyed our food during our stay. We discovered that they also make very good rosti which we both enjoyed that I had to look for rosti in Switzerland when I went to visit. :P
I had my first scuba diving experience here. We booked discover scuba. The video and pool training seemed adequate to make us feel ready albeit a bit nervous. The dive didn't go well as we both became a bit dizzy that i had to throw up 8 times while diving underwater. My diving instructor was so scared that his eyes almost popped out of his eye socket. He asked me many times if I want to go back up. I refused bec i still want to see things underwater. I was just a bit annoyed having to take out my regulator to puke for 8 times. :P
After the dive, my instructor told me he was so scared I would rush going up which will cause a burst chest and potential death. He was so impressed that I kept my calm. I guess I still don't want to die and was a bit conscious not to make any fatal mistake. Part of that was disciplining myself to be calm when my initial response would have been panic. i'm glad I managed. :P
