A couple miles long by ¼ mile wide, this is the laid back beach resort that Argentineans flock to in the summer. No wonder, it is a great beach resort with gambling at the many casinos. The main street, Av. Golero runs along the center of the peninsula. It is lined with shops and outdoor cafes. Shoes, leather goods, clothing and handicrafts abound. Beaches line both sides of the peninsula. Playa Mansa has Punta’s best known landmark, the fingers of a giant hand poking up out of the sand. Playa Brava seems to be the other popular beach. Playa Brava is on the Atlantic and Playa Mansa is on the Rio de la Plata. The sand is very powdery and the sun is deceptively hot.

A good day trip is to see the sea lions at Isla de los lobos. You cannot get off the boat, but this is one of the largest populations of sea lions in the world. Another day trip to the pine tree covered Isla Gorriti is a favorite with the locals. The island has a very nice beach and a restaurant.
