Friendly mid-range option Nov 10, 2016
This is a mid-range locally run hotel on the edge of town, right by the airport. The latter isn't a problem as there is only one flight a day, and the hotel is for the most part quiet and restful. It is, however, a little further from town than I had been led to believe (about a 25-30 minute walk), and we would have preferred to be a little closer. That said, taxis are cheap and easy to order from the reception here if needed.

The accommodation is in bungalows which are arranged around the garden and pool. Our room (and I assume all of them) was somewhat old-fashioned in style, but large and comfortable, with a single bed in addition to the double, a large wardrobe, two chairs, a TV and mini-bar. The bathroom had a shower over the tub and was well supplied with towels and toiletries. The rooms have A/C (one of the factors in our choice and not that common on Rapa Nui) and the hotel has free wifi which worked OK most of the time.

The grounds are nicely planted with flowering shrubs and the pool is a good size with loungers around it. All the bungalows have patio doors opening on to this area and the pool offered a welcome opportunity to cool off after a day’s sightseeing, although we weren’t here long enough to take full advantage of this relaxing spot.

On their other side the bungalows have a conventional door opening on to the walkway that leads to the separate lobby and restaurant. Breakfast is included in your stay and we found this to be a decent selection of cold items, on top of which you can order eggs cooked to your preference. The restaurant also serves dinner but I believe you need to order this in advance (at breakfast time) – it’s too far away from the town centre to cater to walk-ins. We didn’t eat here so I can’t comment on the food, and I only once saw anyone do so.

The hotel’s manager, Jarkko, is friendly and speaks good English, as do some staff, and the service from everyone was pleasant and helpful (ordering taxis and making restaurant reservations, for example). If you’re happy to be at some distance from the town this hotel would be hard to beat for the price.
