Hello all, Woke up this morning for breakfast, and by 8:00am we were all packed in a van and ready to go.  The trip today involved a journey up Volcan Cerro Negro.  It started with a 45 minute ride in the van to a horse stable a decent way up he mountain.  There were eight tourists and two guides in the group, and they only had eight horses.  So one of the guides and one person took off walking.  The horses were maybe a bit under nourished but it wasn't all that...

From dust to sea.  The 14km return hike up to Sierra Negra was very dusty but had spectacular views of the caldera and other parts of the island.I spent the afternoon snorkeling with about 15-20 chilling white-tip reef sharks in a little bay on the islands of Las Titoreras in about 2.5 feet of water.  Very cool.At night, Paul and I went to one of the other bars in town where we basically had the whole place to ourselves.  The bartendress kept staring at the back of my head whic...

Los Angeles, CA to Quito, Ecuador. Stayed in Ecuador for one month going from Quito, to Tena/Misahualli in the Amazon, to Guayaquil on the coast, to Salinas, to the surf town of Montanita, back to Guayaquil to fly to the Galapagos Islands. We saw Isla Santa Cruz and Isla Isabella...truly an amazing place. Returned to Quito after 8 days in the Galapagos and then hopped a bus to Otavalo for the famous Saturday market. Ecuador is an amazingly diverse country and more people should travel there!
